About Us: The Legacy of Ace Baits
At Ace Baits, fishing isn't just a pastime—it's a lifelong passion. Growing up in South London, my journey began with the waters of Crystal Palace Park Lake, Norwood Lakes, and Burgess Park. These spots sparked a love for fishing that would eventually lead me to renowned waters like Dartford Lakes and members-only waters such as Sutton at Hone and Horton Kirby (DDAPS). It was there that I became captivated by the challenge of carp fishing.
My early days were spent with a simple swing tip rod and sweetcorn, catching bream and honing my skills. Yet, the sight of carp anglers with their magnificent catches fuelled my ambition. After saving diligently, I bought my first carp rod and bite alarm from the iconic Penge Angling. I was ready—or so I thought.
Discovering the Science of Bait
Success didn’t come immediately, but this only deepened my curiosity. I dove into the science of fishing and bait, experimenting with ingredients and additives to create my first homemade boilies. Returning to Horton Kirby, I began catching carp, validating my early efforts. Alongside improving my watercraft skills, I continued refining my baits, and soon, the catches grew larger and more consistent.
From Garden Shed to National Success
Word of my success spread among friends and fellow anglers, leading me to start supplying bait from my garden shed. I devoted countless hours to researching pH levels, enzymes, and amino acids to improve my bait’s effectiveness. As demand increased, I moved to larger premises and eventually established Ace Baits at the Darenth Fishing Complex. With a dedicated team, including my children for a time, Ace Baits grew into a trusted name among anglers.
Our baits accounted for countless record-breaking catches across the UK and beyond. The French carp fishing scene also embraced our products, with field testers reporting stunning results from premier carp waters. French lake owners took notice, leading me to produce custom baits and forge international partnerships.
A Pause, Then a Comeback
After two decades of relentless work, I decided to step back, handing over Ace Baits. Unfortunately, the business didn't continue long after my departure. Despite this, I remained connected to the angling community, sharing advice and resisting numerous offers to sell my secret recipes.
Recently, my passion for fishing reignited. Revisiting some of my original bait recipes, I found they still delivered exceptional results. Encouraged by friends and fellow anglers, I’ve decided to relaunch Ace Baits, starting with a limited range of our most popular baits. Each product is crafted with the same dedication to quality and performance that made Ace Baits a household name among carp anglers.
A New Chapter for Ace Baits
With the same trusted recipes and a renewed love for fishing, Ace Baits is back to help anglers land their dream catches. Our initial product range will be limited, but if demand is strong, we’ll expand to bring back even more of the iconic baits that helped build our legacy.
